THE AREA:   

 

Gales Point Manatee is the neighboring village to the property referred to locally   as The Coconut Walk.   GalesPoint is home to about 400 residents of friendly Creole peoples deep in culture as being one of the oldest villages on record in Belize. The Coconut Walk can be accessed by sea,   inter coastal river, road to Gales Point, and by air, with an airstrip located 2 miles from Gales Point.

 

The Coconut Walk is just a short 18 miles south of Belize City by sea.

  

The village is a peninsula located at the foot hills of the magnificent MayaMountain range which slopes into the Southern Lagoon. Home to one of the largest populations of West Indian Manatees in the world. It is a 10 minute boat ride to the Coconut Walk from Gales Point through the Southern Lagoon and the Manatee Bar River, which a section of this adjoins the property with creek access also to the adjacent Quashie Trapp Lagoon making this property a virtual water wonderland. Rendezvous Caye is located 11 miles east with spectacular snorkeling, diving and fishing spots.

 

There is also fantastic fishing in the ManateeBarRiver holding huge Tarpon, Snook, Snapper, and vast assortments of other fishing experiences found in this unique part of Belize.   

 

The area is also home to sea turtles, nesting parrot sites, and jaguars, wild peccary (pigs), are commonly found wondering along the beach on the Coconut Walk and an incredible array of flora, fauna throughout the area.   

 

Monkey troops have been recently located in the Southern Lagoon area which were thought not to exist previously. GalesPoint, Southern Lagoon and The Coconut Walk are truly an incredible wildlife wonder in which eco tourism is the focal point of the Belize economy leaving plenty of space for development for man and beast and is encouraged by the Belize Government.   

 

THE PROPERTY:   

 

The Coconut Walk is suitable for several resort and or condo homes which there have been a recent boon in condo development in Belize with a common thread within resorts and hotels.   

 

Infrastructure would be needed. Easements are allowed for this and electricity & water is available about 4 miles south of the area. Some resorts based on eco tourism are now finding applications using solar, wind and water power which only enhances the eco tourism experience.   

 

Permits are available for up to 5 piers for the Coconut Walk and Beach renourishment permits for enhancing the beautification of the property. Development Projects are normally applied for with just a check list of the project’s criteria from you provided by the GOB and a one day inspection of the property for such projects.  We are investigating the potential for it’s own airstrip.
